The newly established Castellucci Lab at the University of Rochester is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the production of speech and gesture using intracranial methods (e.g., ECoG, direct electrical stimulation). The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative background and experience using MATLAB, Python, or comparable tools to analyze timeseries data. Prior experience with intracranial recordings and/or kinematic analysis is preferred, and knowledge of systems neuroscience, psycho/neurolinguistics, speech science, nonverbal communication, or motor control would be an asset. The start date is flexible, and can be early as January 2026.
The successful applicant will join an integrative research group studying the neural mechanisms of real-world communication, and opportunities to develop additional projects leveraging behavioral methods, computational modelling, and comparative experiments in songbirds will be available. Postdoctoral researchers in the lab will also advance their mentorship skills through the supervision of graduate students and undergraduates.
